Almost $10K in Tokens in April

15 billion tokens, 302 Linear issues shipped to production, just me in Claude Code. Real 'headcount equivalent' territory—and a reminder to measure impact, not just output.

Almost $10K in list price token usage in April. Just me, just in Claude code - I'm in real "headcount equivalent" investment territory now.

Some of that is my workflow which could be more token efficient. I'm betting a lot of it is Opus 4.7 and how token hungry it can be + suspected changes in how things are cached.

Of course I don't expect to continue getting a 96% discount forever (I now have 2 max accounts). But I did ship another 302 linear issues to production last month with those 15 billion tokens while the getting's good.

All of this is bringing me back to what I've been fixated on for years: how can we have a better understanding of what we're getting in exchange for our investment? People and tokens.

Going much faster in the wrong direction is still wasteful - how might I bring in more leading indicators of customer value and traction into the calculation?

Would love to hear how others are thinking through this too.
